These latest updates introduce a few new features which are straightforward.

The most significant change to the Version Log and Release Notes is the addition of the Modern NITRO Studio 3.x series. This is our replacement for the add-in-based NITRO 2.5.x series. Because it will take time for our customers to move to the 3.x series, we are continuing to release updates for the 2.5.x series. The 3.x series is for Microsoft 365 customers. For on-prem, the version will switch over to 3.x once the add-in retirement is complete in April 2026.

Rest assured that all 2.5.x updates and 3.x updates will be in parallel and at parity with each other until we can retire the 2.5.x series after all of our customers have made the switch.

Our Product Team is working around the clock to provide an update for existing Microsoft 365 customers. As noted in the blog post, we expect an upgrade path for existing customers by October 2024. After which time, we will share the upgrade package and instructions with our customers.
